Polly Giller is having difficulty motivating people in town to dig into a mystery she uncovered at the Bell House. Finding two metal boxes hidden in an old fireplace mantle might change that. In fact, she's about to insist. In the meantime, life at the Bell House is never boring. The chaos of construction, moving, growing kids, life ... there's always something going on. Thank goodness for terrific friends and endless amounts of coffee. Even when she should be doing something else, Polly finds a reason to drop in at Sweet Beans Coffee Shop and Bakery. Sometimes all it takes is seeing a friend's car parked in front. Aaron Merritt and his deputies are trying to find out who is breaking into the homes of elderly women. So far, the thieves haven't gotten to Bellingwood, but they've been in other parts of the county. It's just a matter of time. Little do those men realize it, but Bellingwood is the last place they want to show up. This is a community where people watch out for each other, and once they hit Polly's radar, she's not afraid to create a little chaos of her own to stop them. The townspeople are becoming a bigger part of Polly's life every day. You will get to know many of them better in "Marks in a Lifetime" and, like Polly, you'll fall in love with these fabulous characters.

I have enjoyed this series from the beginning. The characters are so well fleshed out that I feel like I know them personally. I find myself wondering what they are going to get into next. The mystery in this book was well done too, and something that I think actually could have happened in some small towns. I like that she is getting more into social justice, and diversity, and that her town is having some growing pains. I am glad that her daughter isn't perfect any more, that she does bratty things on occasion. The author maintains a great website with drawings of the town and floor plans of the buildings she writes about, which is nice. She is also very responsive when you have questions, and she has an active social media presence, which I find that I like very much. These books are written every quarter, I think the next one will be coming out on June 25th, and you can bet I will be waiting at midnight on the 24th to download it!

Marks in a Lifetime Bellingwood Volume 17 Diane Greenwood Muir 9781544855066 Books Reviews
This book was a disappointment. It was poorly written. There was no storyline. Endless unnecessary details made no contribution to the story. It appears the author threw in some excitement toward the end in order to simply finish the book and I was really glad I had reached the end. I actually skipped pages of useless information. Very disappointed.
An attempt at a storyline with Girls Rule served only to make me a
I feel so warm and happy when I'm in Bellingwood. I love Polly and the wonderful family and friends. Yes, there are problems but the way everyone works together to solve them is wonderful. And there are always new friends and stories to add . I hated getting to the end of the book but I was so happy, that it was OK. I'm anxious for the next chapter in their lives. I am so grateful to have found these books and each one has been a joy to read . I highly recommend this series.
As always, Diane delights her readers with more Bellingwood adventures. I found myself "moving in" to the Bell House with Polly and her growing family, marveling at her barely managed chaos, and loving her caring practicality. Another wonderful read.
Diane has a way of writing a book or many books without them being a cookiecutter type story. Family is always at the center of her stories, but each one is different. I have read all of Diane's books, and I loved each one. When you pull your head out of the book you are surprised to find yourself at home - the people and places feel so real. The problems in this particular book ARE real. My only complaint - the books should be longer so I can stay in Bellingwood longer! Thanks Diane for deciding to become a writer!
Poor Polly, Henry and the kids are deep in renovations to Bell House.
They experience the normal nightmares in the kind of work that's being done in that huge place. Kitchen disasters ensueand are dealt with. Treasures are discovered and explored.
Polly being Polly, there are some bodies involved but the outcome isn't the usual.
I really don't want to say TOO much as most of the fun is in the finding out and there's LOTS of fun in this one. The title of the review refers to the next Bellingwood release.
As my children used to say, Are We There Yet???
It was good .but I missed seeing more of the regulars and missed certain things that usually happen. One thing that bothered me was when Polly was told that Noah had troubles seeing things she didn't check it out and make him a eye appointment. too tell the truth it kind of bugged me she was sort of trapped into taking the boys. Both times Henry said yes without asking her first. It seems like he is trying to prevent her from getting out and finding more bodies. I know she loves them but he should not of said yes without checking with her.
as always loved the gals party. Those Tattoos sound like fun. I often wonder if we will ever learn more about Rebecca's past. Her father was never mentioned or any grandparents on her mom's side. Maybe that information is on the thumb drive the Renadilli brothers gave her.
I have read every book in the Bellingwood series! Diane is consistently excellent in keeping her characters fresh and alive keeping her readers begging for more.... The only disappointment is that she can't write faster! Thanks Diane... For sharing your talent!
Wow, just when you think the last book can't be outdone, no wonder readers have been reading this one so quickly... This is action packed and full of characters old and new.... Catching up with Polly is always an adventure... Don't miss this one... oh and don't miss the latest vignette. 16.5!
